Frontier Airlines offers Austin twice as many flights
Posted on 07/20/2017 by Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce
This week, Frontier Airlines announced plans to double the number of nonstop destinations from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) and offer Central Texans two new destinations. With the new routes, Central Texans will be able to fly directly to:
- Charlotte, NC
- Cincinnati, OH
- Columbus, OH (new destination)
- New Orleans, LA
- Phoenix, AZ
- Raleigh/Durham, NC
- Ontario, CA (new destination)
- San Jose, CA
The news comes as part of Frontier’s nationwide announcement to expand its network. The additional flights to Central Texas bring Frontier’s nonstop flights to 16.
“Frontier has now more than doubled their network of route options for Central Texas,” Jim Smith, Executive Director of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, said in a statement.
Starting July 18, tickets to New Orleans, Ontario, Phoenix, and Raleigh/Durham are now on sale. Tickets for all other destinations will be available for purchase by September with fares starting at $49. Flights will remain on sale through April 7, 2018. To book your flight, click here.
On the heels of Delta announcing direct flights to Amsterdam for the upcoming South by Southwest Festival and the news of Norwegian Air providing nonstop flights to London, Frontier’s additional flights and destinations mark the third major declaration for the growing ABIA.
"Frontier Airlines' new flights are another example of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport being a desired destination for domestic and international carriers alike,” Doug Driskill, Chairman of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce Air Services Task Force, said in a statement. “We are excited about the new Frontier flights, the affordable fares they offer, and the opportunity they provide for businesses to expand their markets while creating jobs. We thank Frontier for their confidence in our region.”
The Air Service Task Force, which began as part of the Chamber’s Opportunity Austin initiative, works with ABIA to increase the number of direct US and international flights to Central Texas. The next task force meeting will be held Wednesday, September 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Austin Chamber of Commerce boardroom.
