Austin Chamber Confirms 2025 Board Chair, Announces Chair-Elect, Executive Committee, and Board Members

The Austin Chamber has selected its 2025-2026 board leadership. Mark Ramseur, Managing Principal of Pape-Dawson Engineering, will be the 2025 board chair, and Denise Davis, Partner at Davis Kaufman PLLC, will be the 2026 board chair and serve as chair-elect in 2025. Their terms are set to begin on Jan. 1, 2025.

Now in its 24thyear, the Greater Austin Business Awards is Austin's largest business event of the year and brings together over 700 attendees from across our community to recognize companies with the best business practices that are achieving success and leadership in their industries. Receiving an award is the pinnacle of business recognition in the Greater Austin region. This year’s event took place at the JW Marriott in Austin on October 9th, with over 700 chamber members and leaders from our business community in attendance.

Austin Chamber Issues Statement on New Proposed Police Contract

Today, the Austin Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted to support the tentative agreement between the City of Austin and the Austin Police Association for a new, five-year police contract. Improving public safety has been a top priority for our organization, and we have long advocated for a new contract that will enhance the City’s overall safety efforts. This long-term agreement includes critical investments in our police workforce that will help retain officers and improve the Austin Police Department’s (APD) efforts to recruit new cadets. With APD facing a shortage of over 300 sworn officers, this agreement will provide the stability and confidence needed for the Department to close this gap.

Austin Gives Winners Announced at Award Ceremony May 7th

The winners of Austin Chamber of Commerce's Austin Gives Awards were announced on May 7th at an awards ceremony that took place at the JW Marriott in Austin. Over 450 guests were in attendance at the event, which takes place every year to honor companies and individuals who go above and beyond to give back to the community-based non-profit organizations. In addition to the regular awards, the Bobby Jenkins Philanthropic Leader of the Year Award was presented to Patsy Woods Martin, founder of I Live Here, I Give Here and creator of Amplify Austin Day.

Greater Austin Chamber Board issues resolution to support pay and benefits for Austin Police Department

Today, the Austin Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors approved a resolution that advocates for the passage of Ordinance No. 20230223-061, which extends certain pay and benefits for Austin Police Department officers, increased field training pay, maintained base pay and continued cadet incentive programs.

Richard Rhodes named Austinite of the Year by Austin Chamber

The Austin Chamber has named Richard Rhodes, Ph.D., former chancellor of Austin Community College District—and longest-serving chancellor in the college’s 50-year history—as the 2023 Austinite of the Year. This award represents the highest honor the Chamber offers on an annual basis. Rhodes will be honored at the Austin’s Chamber of Commerce’s 146thannual meeting, Cheers to the Year, on Feb. 13, 2024.
