Are you or a loved one struggling to pay the electric bill? Life moves fast. Changes in jobs, health, housing or family dynamics can make paying a utility bill harder. Austin Energy, your City of Austin electric provider, is dedicated to ensuring that customers struggling to pay utility bills have resources to help, even if that help is only needed for a few months.

The City of Austin's Customer Assistance Program, administered by Austin Energy, works with our community’s most vulnerable customers and provides them with much needed support services. From flexible payment options to utility bill discounts, the Customer Assistance Program offers comprehensive support to customers experiencing financial challenges and unexpected emergencies.

The Customer Assistance Program also offers a Medically Vulnerable Registry to customers dealing with critical medical conditions that could become life-threatening during a power outage. The Medically Vulnerable Registry provides eligible customers with personal case management from the City of Austin and partnering social service agencies. While customers on the registry are not guaranteed uninterrupted power or priority restoration during an emergency, they will work with a designated team member to establish a personalized emergency backup plan.
