Site Selection Magazine announced that Opportunity Austin, the Austin Chamber of Commerce economic development initiative, has been awarded the 2022 Mac Conway Award, an award given annually to the top economic development organizations in the country. This is the fourth year in a row the Chamber and Opportunity Austin has received this award.

This honor stems from the Chamber’s success in closing economic development deals with companies including Samsung, Tesla, and Apple. Opportunity Austin has helped the region create thousands of new jobs by recruiting new companies, helping existing companies expand jobs and entrepreneurs create new companies and jobs.

The Mac Conway Awards for Excellence in Economic Development, named in honor of Site Selection founding publisher H. McKinley “Mac” Conway, are awarded to the top 20 local and regional U.S. economic development groups based on an index of corporate job creation and facility-related capital investment data calculated both cumulatively and per capita.
