Southwest Airlines Announces Nonstop flight to Sacramento, Expands California service

Southwest Airlines announced today its extended daily nonstop flights to California’s Sacramento International Airport and San Francisco International Airport. Passenger traffic at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport is expected to increase again in 2018, and the number of nonstop flights from the airport continues to grow opportunities for business and pleasure travel domestically.
“The new nonstop of Sacramento makes connecting capital to capital easier than ever,” said Jim Smith, executive director of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, in a statement. “With this new daily service plus another option to San Francisco, Southwest now connects our Central Texas travelers to four airports in Northern California.”
Both flights will begin April 8, 2018, and tickets are available for purchase here.
Flights to Sacramento will depart from Austin at 7:55 p.m. and arrive in Sacramento at 9:45 p.m. Departing flights from Sacramento will leave at 6:30 a.m. and arrive in Austin at 11:50 a.m.
Travelers flying to San Francisco can expect the nonstop service to depart from Austin at 3:30 p.m. and arrive in San Francisco at 5:25 p.m. Flights will depart San Francisco at 5:55 a.m. and arrive in Austin at 11:30 a.m.
The Air Service Task Force, which began as part of the Greater Austin Chamber’s Opportunity Austin initiative, works with ABIA to increase the number of direct US and international flights to Central Texas. The next task force meeting will be held Wednesday, September 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Austin Chamber of Commerce boardroom.
