UPLIFT Desk celebrates 20 years in business at new showroom ribbon cutting event
The Austin-based company opened the newest building on its solar powered campus with food and festivities for the community.

Standing desk company UPLIFT Desk held a ribbon cutting event April 6 to celebrate 20 years in business and the opening of the Austin, TX-based ergonomic office furniture company’s new showroom on Ferguson Ln. UPLIFT Desk is an ecommerce-first company known for their New York Times’ Wirecutter’s pick for best standing desk four years running.
“We are proud to be headquartered in Austin for 20 years and excited to open our 152,000 square foot campus on Ferguson Ln that includes five buildings,” Founder and CEO Jon Paulsen said. “We now have over 310,000 square feet of warehouse space in the Austin area and are thrilled with our new office furniture showroom. Our warehouses hold 48,000 pallets of inventory that enables us to serve the world. Primarily an ecommerce operation, we focus on providing the best service and best selection of quality office furniture that all ships the same day it’s ordered.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony was held at 3:30 p.m. and marked the official opening of the new showroom. The celebratory afternoon welcomed all, including valued guests, customers, and the UPLIFT Desk employees who contribute so much to the success of the business. After Warehousing Director Phil Benavides made a speech and cut the ribbon, attendees were treated to live music by Austin’s The Weak Knights, local food by Downtown Burgers, drink offerings, free UPLIFT Desk swag, and tours of the new facilities.

“Our showroom grand opening was a company-wide, months-long process of getting the perfect display of our products and offerings visible to customers,” Sales & Customer Service Supervisor Allison McDonald said. “Many customers are wowed by our sleek website, and we wanted to carry that same feeling into the showroom, whether they are shopping for their home office or their corporate office.”

The showroom joins three UPLIFT Desk warehouses that hold over 1,500 solar panels, one of the largest solar arrays in central Texas. The array generates over 1 million watts of clean electricity annually, offsetting the environmental impact of the operation and making UPLIFT Desk a net power producer that returns green energy to the grid.
“Our warehouses use zero-emission electric forklifts that are literally powered by the sun,” Warehousing Director Phil Benavides said. “With this campus, we are positioned for further innovation and growth as a leader in the office furniture market. In the coming years, we look forward to helping hundreds of thousands more customers to work better and live healthier, starting right here at home in our local community.”
