AUSTIN, Texas — Opportunity Austin, the Greater Austin Chamber’s five-county prosperity initiative, today announced that tech company Markaaz has relocated its headquarters from Los Angeles to Austin.

“Opportunity Austin is thrilled that such a rapidly growing global organization has moved its headquarters to Austin,” Charisse Bodisch, senior vice president, economic development for the Austin Chamber of Commerce, said. “Markaaz is a welcome addition to the Austin region’s flourishing tech industry and the new jobs being created are crucial for our economy as we continue to recover from the pandemic.”

The company’s decision to choose Austin for its headquarters signifies the strength of the Austin region’s local talent pool as the company has stated it is actively seeking to hire up to 70 people by the end of the year and has plans to expand to a team of approximately 150 by the end of 2022.

“To accommodate our growing organization, we needed to find a city for our corporate headquarters that aligned to our long-term business needs and core values,” Hany Fam, founder and CEO of Markaaz, said. “Our core value of ‘do good’ – which emphasizes people who care about their impact on the world, the environment, society, the economy and the communities we live in – aligned with the heart and soul of the Austin community.”

Markaaz is the world’s first global platform to connect small businesses and the network of partners that support them. Markaaz’s directory will help business owners save time and money by allowing them to identify, connect, monitor and transact with verified suppliers and partners. The directory features 119 million small and medium businesses (SMBs) and will grow to more than 300 million SMBs later this year, brought together in one powerful Dashboard for SMBs where SMBs can find all the resources they need to run, manage and grow their business.

The company established its new headquarters in Austin in March of this year. Their new space is located in the Foundry I, located at 310 Comal St. #201.
