Greater Austin Business Award Winners Revealed

Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, HAAM, voted as Most Uniquely Austin

Austin, Texas (August 30, 2017) – The Austin Chamber of Commerce announced winners of its 17th Annual Greater Austin Business Awards. The awards were presented during ceremonies held on Wednesday evening at the Hilton Austin in front of about 1,000 attendees.

Close to 500 companies were nominated for the Chamber’s Business Awards. The winners were selected by an independent panel of judges except for the Most Uniquely Austin Award, which was selected by open public voting.

Awards that had multiple recipients were divided into categories based on number of employees and winners are listed sequentially: 401+ employees, 101-400 employees, 26-100 employees, and 1-25 employees.

Winners were announced in the following eleven categories:

The Tru-Skin Dermatology Most Uniquely Austin Award recognizes a company that embraces Austin's unique culture and exemplifies what it means to live and do business in Austin. This year’s winner is Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, HAAM.

The Cook-Walden Funeral Home Community Relations Award recognizes any organization that demonstrates a successful approach to corporate social responsibility and can show a positive impact on the community. This year’s winners are Applied Materials, Inc.; KVUE; Round Rock Express Baseball Club; and High Five Events.

The ABC Home & Commercial Services Customer Service Award recognizes any organization in any industry dedicated to outstanding customer service and satisfaction in all aspects of sales and service. This year’s winners are HHS; Trulucks Seafood Steak & Crab House; Care.Com HomePay; and Best Western Plus Austin Central.

The Seton Healthcare Family Health & Wellness Award recognizes any organization that actively encourages employees to engage in a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle. This year’s winners are Capital Metro Transportation Authority; Keller Williams Reality International; JLL Austin; and IT’S TIME TEXAS.

The Brookfield Residential Environmental Friendly Award recognizes any organization that demonstrates commitment to environmentally sound practices. This year’s winners are AMD, Texas Disposal System tie; W Austin; TreeHouse, Austin Habitat for Humanity ReStore tie; Lettuce Networks.

The Wells Fargo Executive Leadership Award recognizes presidents, principals or chief executive officers for devoting time and energy to strengthen and transform the organization they lead. This year’s winners are Kerbey Lane Café, Mason Ayer; Communities in the Schools of Central Texas, Suki Steinhauser; Austin Board of REALTORS, Paul Hilgers; Leadership Austin, Christopher Kennedy.

The Facebook Innovation Award recognizes any organization that employs new ideas or approaches to doing business. This year’s winners are HID Global; NLand; The Zebra; and Convey, Inc.

The AT&T Global Impact Award recognizes investments by international companies in Austin that create jobs locally, as well as Austin-based companies who have a global impact through products and services provided worldwide. This year’s winner is World First.

The Dell Technologies First Time Entrepreneur Award recognizes an individual that launched a customer-focused business and is a first-time entrepreneur. This year’s winner is Friends and Allies Brewing Company.

The Blackbaud Non-Profit Award recognizes any Section 501(c)(3) public charity or private foundation that is tirelessly focused on serving the community through collaborative partnerships and impactful programming. This year’s winner is Austin Pets Alive!

The Texas Capital Bank Company Culture Award recognizes a company that demonstrated a sustainable culture with proven employee-retention rates. This year’s winner is Atlassian.
